Visa

The Consulate General of Nepal, Lhasa receives visa applications for tourists between 10 am to 12 am in the morning on office days (Monday to Friday).

Applicants are required to apply online for acquiring Nepali visas. Please visit https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/ to apply for visa.

Next, the applicants are required to visit the Visa Section of the Consulate General along with the following documents:

1. Printed ‘Tourist Visa Application Form’ generated from the above website,
2. Valid passport (at least with 6 months’ validity on the date of application),
3. Copies of the passport and his/her ID card,
4. A recent passport-size photograph (size: 35*45 mm),
5. A copy of birth certificate (in case of minor applicant below 10 years).

Multiple Entry Tourist visas are issued for the period of 15 days, 30 days and 90 days on the basis of the applicant’s request. Tourists can stay for a period of 150 days in a year (from January to December) in Nepal.

Visa can be collected at the Visa Section the next day after submission of the application between 4 to 5 pm in the afternoon (or any other office day between 4 to 5 pm after the next day).

Tourist Visa is free of charge for Chinese nationals from January 1, 2016.

Other nationals are charged as follows:
15-days multiple entry: RMB 210
30-days multiple entry: RMB 350
90-days multiple entry: RMB 875
Only cash is accepted.

Tourists visiting Nepal can get on-arrival visa at land ports and at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. However, tourists visiting Nepal through Tibet Autonomous Region of China (by land or air) are advised to get prior visa from the Consulate General.

Gratis Visa (Visa for Free)

Gratis Visa is issued free of cost in case of following categories of Visa applicants:
1. Children below 10 years except US citizens,
2. Up to 30 days for SAARC Citizen (except Afghanistan) visiting Nepal for the first time in a given visa Year,
3. Non-Resident Nepalese (NRN) card holder (issued by MoFA /Nepalese Diplomatic Missions abroad),
4. Chinese Nationals.
